Bulova Watch Innovations…

Bulova watches have always been innovators in American watchmaking excellence since the brand was founded in 1875 in New York City.

In 1912, Bulova became the first mass producer of timepieces in the world, when they opened a factory in Switzerland. In 1960 Bulova introduced the Accutron watch, the world’s first electronic automatic timepiece. A few years later, the Bulova  Spaceview watch featuring a skeleton dial, was the first mass-produced timepiece of its type.

BUL-96B162-SDMore recently Bulova has introduced new Ultra-High Frequency technology on their Accutron II and Precisionist quartz watch collections. The new technology features three-prong quartz technology that vibrates at 262 khz per second instead of the standard two-prong quartz technology which vibrates  at 32khz per second.

The new Ultra-High Frequency delivers unparalleled accuracy and a fluid sweeping second hand movement that comes close to that of an automatic timepiece, unlike other quartz watches which have a pulsating second hand movement.

You’ll find many of today’s most-wanted Bulova watch styles for men and women at luxury retailer TheWatchery.com during the site’s Bulova Best-Sellers Event. Over 158 models are featured in the promotion, including styles from the popular Precisionist, Accutron, Adventurer, Marine Star, Star Watch, Rosedale and Caravelle NY collections.

Hublot Time Innovations

Hublot watches is a Swiss-watchmaking titan known for its innovative design, pre-eminent Swiss craftsmanship and highly regarded premium materials.

Although the brand is a relative newcomer in the horological world, being around less than 50 years, Hublot has created big impact since its creator Carlo Crocco introduced the brand’s first watch featuring a natural black rubber strap in 1980.

In 1976 Crocco, a member of the Blinda Italian watchmaking family set out to create a new watch company in Genève, Switzerland and started work on a new watch named after the French word for porthole “Hublot.” HUBLOT-312-CM-1120-RX

Crocco set out to create a watch that would transcend fashion and be both elegant and sporty at the same time. It took three years of research for Crocco to design the innovative strap for the watch made entirely of rubber.

This was the very first rubber watch of its kind and the Hublot watch was met global acclaim and phenomenal sales when it was introduced in 1980.

The original Hublot watch also featured a brushed, scratch resistant 18K yellow gold case with titanium screw accents on the bezel, which also served as hour indicators to the hands on the dial.

The brand was soon renamed after its first watch design and became a pioneer for its innovative use of materials in addition to rubber, including Kevlar, pink gold, titanium and ceramic.

Although it featured thoroughly modern materials on the exterior, the Hublot watch also featured time-honored Swiss-made craftsmanship and precise automatic movement on the inside, marking the birth of the Fusion concept in Swiss watchmaking.

Forty-five years after the debut of its very first timepiece, Hublot watches today are still highly regarded for their Fusion watches featuring the very best of both worlds. You’ll find Hublot watches at luxury retailer TheWatchery.com, including the Big Bang King Black Magic automatic watch for men.

Go Automatic!

Watch collectors and aficionados would agree that nothing compares to precision and craftsmanship of an automatic timepiece.

For generations, both automatic and mechanical wristwatches have held a high level of prestige and esteem for their intricate bespoke movements inside, premium quality and artistry.

There’s one caveat to owning either an automatic or mechanical timepiece and that is keeping them running. Mechanical watches, which are highly regarded for their Old World workmanship and expertise, require manual winding on a daily basis to keep the watching operating smoothly.OMEGA-231.13.44.52.04.001

Automatic watches rely on the movement and motion of the user’s wrist. However, when an automatic watch is not in use it will wind-down in a duration of 10 to 72 hours, depending on the power reserve inside. One solution to keeping an automatic watch running is a watch winder, which is designed to replicate the movement of the hand and keep an automatic timepiece running proficiently.

Precision, self-winding automatic watches are highlighted this week at luxury retailer TheWatchery.com with the Go Automatic Event, featuring over 250 automatic men’s and women’s watches from today’s most sough-after watch brands, including Breitling, Omega, Raymond Weil, Maurice Lacroix, Bulova, Eterna, Ebel, Ritmo Mundo, MOMO Design, Bedat & Co., Lucien Piccard, Versace, Jean Richard and Swiss Legend.

What’s more, an automatic watch winder is included with every automatic watch featured in the week-long promotion at TheWatchery.com.

The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT Chronograph features automatic time-keeping at its finest. This outstanding Swiss-made wristwatch is a certified Chronometer, a certification of precision awarded by the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) and is water-resistant to 150 meters or 500 feet.

Race To The Moon

This forthcoming Monday marks the 46th Anniversary of the first man on the moon landing. On July 20, 1969, Americans Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were the first astronauts to land on the moon with the Apollo 11 spacecraft.

The spaceflight effectively ended Space Race between the United States and Soviet Union which began at the outset of the Cold War between the two nations in the early 1960’s and fulfilled a national objective proposed by President John F Kennedy in 1961 to have a man land on the moon before the decade was out.

Interestingly another race to the moon coincided with the 1969 moon landing: the race to have the first wristwatch on the moon. Watchmakers Omega and Bulova were both in direct competition with each other during the 1960’s to achieve this honor of distinction.ACCUTRON-63A000

American watchmaker Bulova originally had the edge  for not only being an American watch brand but also producing the Accutron 214 wristwatch, which was used by NASA in early space missions and also became the Official Gift of State when President Johnson was in office during the mid 1960’s.

However, the Plexiglas crystal and dustproof characteristics of the Speedmaster gave Swiss watchmaker Omega the competitive edge over Bulova.

Although Bulova did not make it to the moon, the brand’s Accutron Spaceview timepiece originally intended for space exploration was a global phenomenon when it was introduced in the 1960’s.

The automatic timepiece featured a skeleton dial and no visible crown with the time-setting mechanism on the caseback. It was also the first-mass produced exhibition watch of its type.

The Bulova Accutron Kirkwood Automatic men’s watch available at luxury retailer TheWatchery.com pays homage to the legendary Spaceview timepiece. This outstanding Swiss-made automatic watch has an exhibition skeleton dial and semi exhibition caseback that let you see the intricate movement inside.

Trunk Show Watch Finds!

Trunk shows are popular and viable events for fashion designers and design houses to exhibit their goods at exclusive venues for a limited time. Once the limited event is over, the show moves to another location, usually in another city. Hence, the trunk show moniker is more of a metaphorical trade term, since the promotion is  a traveling event and no trunks may actually be used.

The promotion is extremely popular in both the bridal and jewelry fields, since they allow retailers the opportunity to showcase exclusive one-of-a-kind fashions and jewelry creations, they would not normally carry in their shops.

Bridal trunk shows from popular fashion designers Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors are widely attended by newly engaged brides to not only give them ideas for their wedding day, but make important selections for the big day as well.BREITLING-RB0210B3-BC19-SD
