What Becomes An Icon Most?

When it comes to iconic watch brands, Movado easily stands out from the rest. Movado’s signature dot accent and minimalist dial have been featured on many of its watch collections for over 67 years, since the inception of tits legendary Museum Watch in 1947.

The Museum dial with the signature dot accent has made Movado one of the most recognized brands in the world. While the dot accent has changed through the years…going from a flat surface design to a more concaved look, back to a flat surface…the minimalist aspects of the dial have remained the same.

The signature dot  has not only appeared on the dial of many Movado timepieces, it also had been incorporated on both the bezels and bracelets of the Movado Sport Edition collection, which debuted in 1981.

MOV-0606290Nineteen years later Movado updated the Sport Edition collection with the Movado SE, a thoroughly modernized version of the Sport Edition with a sculpted contoured case and bracelet, concave dot accent on the dial, along with concave dot accents on the bezel and bracelet.

The Movado Sport Edition has been updated once again with a cleaner and sleeker new look and is now named the SE Extreme. You’ll find the new SE Extreme along with classic Museum styles and a wide assortment of other popular Movado watches at luxury retailer The Watchery.

The new SE Extreme offers a thoroughly modern look for today’s sophisticated, urbane man. The generously oversized case in premium grade stainless steel is a strapping 45mm in diameter and 10mm thick.

The striking, architecturally-inspired triple link bracelet is handsomely integrated into the case. Four dot accents highlight the perfectly round stainless steel bezel. The updated Museum dial shines with a flat surfaced dot accent below the 12 o’clock hour, polished silver tone sword hands and a striking black background.

Premium Swiss-made quartz movement inside assures you of time-keeping accuracy. Timepiece is water-resistant to 30 meters or 100 feet.

Complementary delivery is included on all domestic watch purchases at The Watchery.

The Art Of Time…

Basel Switzerland is the place to be in the art world this week as the annual Art Basel Show takes place. Tens of thousands of patrons are expected to visit the popular exhibit, which takes place in Basel, a city prized for its world class museums, theaters, concert halls and strikingly modernistic architecture. Basel is also the location of the Basel World watch and jewelry exhibit, which takes place every spring in the famous city.

CHOPARD-168511-3001Many modern Swiss watchmakers present their timepiece creations at the Basel World exhibit. Some including TAG Heuer, Oris, Ebel and Chopard could exhibit their thoroughly modern timepieces at Art Basel as well.

Art Basel inspired Swiss-made luxury timepieces are showcased this week at luxury retailer The Watchery. Over 300 timepieces from  leading Swiss watchmakers: TAG Heuer, Ebel, Oris, Graham, Raymond Weil, Tissot, Renato Invicta and Swiss Legend are featured in the week-long event.

The high-performance black rubber strap features embossed detail patterned after thre treads of a prized Pirelli racing car tire. The exhibition skeleton caseback lets you see the intricate Swiss-made automatic movement inside.

2014 US Open: It’s Anyone’s Game

The 2014 Golf Season is in full swing this weekend as the final rounds of the US Open take place at the Pinehurst #2 Golf Course in Pinehurst NC. The open is the second of the four major golf tournaments held annually and traditionally concludes on the third Sunday in June.

Unlike other major golf tournaments the US Open is held on a different course each year. Last year’s open was held at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, PA, where English golfer Justin Rose defeated American players Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els.

Mickelson could clinch the top prize on Sunday to win his first US Open, while German golfer Martin Kaymer, American player Fran Quinn and Korean player Kevin Na also have a very good chance of taking the title.TAG-WAK2180.FT6027

Although golf legend Tiger Woods is not participating in the tournament, due to recuperating from back surgery, his name appears in many news reports regarding the event as another tournament he will not be playing in this year.

Timing is everything on and off golf course for players such as Mickelson, Els and Woods, all who serve as brand ambassadors for luxury watch brands Rolex, Omega and TAG Heuer respectively. Wearing a lightweight watch is vital when playing the game, since a bulky, weighty model could interfere with their swing and the outcome of the game.

Professional golfers in the league of Woods, Mickelson and Els prefer wristwatches with silicone straps that comfortably fit on the wrist and do not interfere with motion. The TAG Heuer Autoracer Men’s watch, available at luxury retailer The Watchery, is an excellent choice.

This outstanding men’s automatic watch features a comfortably-sized, black ion-plated stainless steel case and black silicone strap. The black unidirectional rotating bezel surrounds the  black dial with an automatic date calendar, luminous hands and hour markers.

Watch is 42mm in diameter, 12mm thick and features Swiss-made automatic movement, a locking screw-down crown and case back for water-resistance to 500 meters.

Complementary delivery is included on all domestic watch purchases at The Watchery.

Seaside Adventures

If you’re planning a summertime escape to a tranquil beach resort this season, there are many things to consider before you go: having the proper sunscreen, beach attire and accessories are imperative wherever you’re vacationing.

Whether you’re planning to relax poolside in the Hamptons, take in the sun’s rays on the sands of Maui or explore the deep seas of Costa Rica, you’ll want a wristwatch that is both stylish and water-resistant.

While the timepiece you currently have may be water-resistant to 30 or 50 meters, it’s best to have a watch water-resistant 100 meters or more. Even if you’re not planning any deep-sea excursions, you’ll want a watch able to withstand the rigors of swimming a few laps in a pool or snorkeling in the ocean.

Watches water-resistant to 30 meters are able to withstand casual exposure to water, such as splashes of water, being caught in the rain, accidentally use in the shower or immersing in water. Watches with 50-meter water-resistance can be worn around household sinks and infrequent swimming in shallow water, however it’s best not to wear one when bathing, snorkeling or scuba diving.INVICTA-15918

100 meter water-resistant watches can withstand the same pressures as 50-meter models, yet you can also swim in deeper depths of water, dive or snorkel. However,  you sould avoid deep-sea diving with one.

Timepieces with locking screw-down crowns and case backs are expressly made for the rigors of deep-sea diving and are water-resistant up to 200 meters or more. Both screw-down crowns and case backs prevent water from entering the inner chambers of the timepiece, which could cause erosion and prevent the mechanisms inside from properly working.

You’ll find a great selection of diving watches at luxury retailer The Watchery, during their Summer Diver’s Watch Event, featuring hundreds of timepieces ideal for deep-sea exploration.

The Invicta Subaqua Men’s Chronograph is an excellent choice. This virile men’s timepiece has a screw-down crown and case back…and is water resistant to 500 meters. It features a 50mm diameter stainless steel case and matching multi-link bracelet in stainless steel with textured detail on the center links.

The unidirectional rotating bezel in blue ion-plated steel encircles the gunmetal dial with three subdials, an automatic date calendar, luminous hands and hour markers. Premium Swiss quartz movement inside assures you of time-keeping accuracy.

Complementary delivery is included on all domestic watch purchases at The Watchery.

June is easily one of the most popular months for Wedding Anniversaries. More couples have tied the knot during the month of June than any other month in the calendar.
