Are You Ready To Go Automatic?

Nothing says time-honored elegance and premium-crafted precision more than an automatic wristwatch. Self-winding automatic timepieces are among the most coveted styles for men and women in the world today. A true automatic or self-winding watch features a built-in mainspring mechanism that winds automatically from the natural motion of a user’s arm and provides sufficient energy to run the watch and avoid manual winding.

Abraham Louis Perrelet invented the first automatic timepiece in 1770 with a pocket watch designed to operate when the watch wearer started walking, using an oscillating weight that moved up and down. The self-winding mechanism Perrelet created was revolutionary, since mechanical watches used prior to this period required manual winding.INVICTA-12720

Outstanding automatic wristwatches from Perrelet, Maurice Lacroix, TAG Heuer, Lucien Piccard, Invicta, Tissot, Chopard, Swiss Legend, Raymond Weil, Rado, Oris, IWC, MOMO Design, red line and Seiko are showcased this week at luxury retailer The Watchery during their Automatic Watch Event.

It features a highly-pronounced stainless steel case with an 18K gold plated crown, push-pieces and decorative accents. The strapping case is 53mm in diameter and 21mm thick. The striking stainless steel bracelet with 18K gold plated braided trim accents adds to the dynamic good looks. The exhibition skeleton caseback lets you see the intricate automatic movement inside.

Unidirectional rotating stainless steel bezel is accented with 18K yellow gold braided trim. The semi-skeleton dial features two subdials, luminous skeleton hands, a black outer dial with raised gold tone baton hour markers.

Features include a 30-minute and small-seconds register, plus the locking screw-down crown and caseback provide water-resistance to 200 meters or 660 feet.
