Back From Basel

With the Baselworld 2014 Watch show coming to a close last week, we can now reflect on some of the highlights that took place during the annual eight-day event. Over 150,000 individuals in the watch industry, buyers and media from around the world attended the watch fair in Basel Switzerland, where more than 1,500 exhibitors showcased their latest timepiece collections and innovations.

The who’s, who of popular luxury watchmakers from TAG Heuer, Omega, Chopard, Rolex, Raymond Weil, Hublot, IWC , Bell & Ross and Invicta to Seiko and Casio premiered their new collections during the show.

TAG Heuer introduced the new Monaco V4 Tourbillon automatic timepiece, the first tourbillon watch operated by belts. The highly modern interpretation of the 1970’s classic features a skeleton dial and caseback. The true beauty of the timepiece is the usage of belts instead of gears that drive the automatic movement inside.INVICTA-14627

Omega pays tribute to the 45 Anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon with its Limited Edition Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. The manual winding chronograph features a titanium case, comfortable fabric strap and a distinctive laser-cut dial.

Casio made headlines at Basel with their new
G-Shock timepiece featuring GPS technology.  The new watch is designed to synchronize with smart phones and GPS devices. It also has
built-in radio wave technology that allows it to check its own time-keeping accuracy with atomic timekeeping signals and satellites around the world.

Invicta chose Baselworld to launch the 10th Anniversary Edition of its legendary Russian Diver Series with Russian Diver Nautilus timepiece.  This extraordinary Swiss-made mechanical timepiece is a real eye-grabber and is currently available at online retailer The Watchery.

Commemorative timepiece features a rich and weighty case in rose gold-plated stainless steel that is 53mm in diameter and 22mm thick. The styling commands attention with an exhibition skeleton dial and protective rose gold-plated cover featuring distinctive grilled detail.

The handsome brown crocodile-textured leather strap is accented with a matching rose gold-plated buckle. Decorative coin-edge trim on the rim of the bezel adds distinction.  Signature rose gold-plated crown at the 9 o’clock hour with a protective cap and chain completes the distinguished look.

Complementary delivery is included on all luxury designer watch purchases at The Watchery.
