Zeno is a noteworthy Swiss watch brand highly regarded for their vigorous high-performance timepieces made for pilots, divers and other professionals. While the brand has been employed by the Swiss army for use by both pilots and frogmen, its origin in 1868 is closely tied to fine pocket watches for men and graceful pendant timepieces for women.
The company’s founder Jules Godat was a small pocket watch manufacturer in the late 1800’s, who built a small watch empire and later opened a factory. Another watch company Eideldinger & Fils, who specialized in watches for the military, took over the factory after Godat’s death in the 1920’s.
Inspired by the Greek philosopher Zeno, Andre-Charles Eideldinger introduced Zeno watches in 1922 as the company worked on fine-tuning and innovating new watch manufacturing techniques. By 1949, Zeno timepieces were exhibited at the Swiss Watch Fair in Basel. The brand changed hands twice by 1973, ending in the hands of watchmaker Felix W Huber and has remained an independent owned brand since then.
During the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Zeno revisited its military origins, offering aviator and diving timepieces for civilians, featuring the technical specifics and features from it classic models. These military inspired watches have catapulted the brand to the acclaim and high regard it holds today.
Zeno timepieces now symbolize premium Swiss watchmaking and precision at its finest. Many of the timepieces in the brand’s collection have been awarded official COSC chronometer certification.
