The Academy Awards took place this past weekend and the film Birdman emerged as the big winner taking home four Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay along with Best Cinematography. The Grand Budapest Hotel also came away with four Oscars as well, yet all were in the technical categories. Meanwhile Eddie Radmayne, Julianne Moore, J.K. Simmons and Patricia Arquette took the top acting honors.
While the winners were heralded throughout the globe, the major discourse regarding the Academy Awards has been the fashions seen on the nominees, presenters, entertainers and those attending the awards ceremony.
From Moore’s beaded white Chanel Haute Couture gown by Karl Lagerfeld accessorized with Chopard earrings to fellow nominee Rosamund Pike’s Givenchy Haute Couture red gown accompanied by a Lorraine Schwartz necklace, the fashions and accessories worn at the ceremony have been the main focus of media attention in the past few days.
Fortunately for Lady Gaga, her Sound of Music tribute during the show outshined the red patent leather gloves she wore to accompany her white Alaia gown on the red carpet, preceding the ceremony.
Actor John Travolta did not fare as well wearing an oversized gold neck chain instead of a traditional bow tie with his navy tuxedo.
At least the Breitling Chronomat Travolta wore at the Oscars earned him some notes of admiration. Ditto, the Cartier Pasha watch seen on presenter Jared Leto, which was received more favorably than the blue Givenchy tuxedo and white lace-up shoe ensemble he wore.
