The Da Vinci Code Of Luxury Watches

men's watchesIf you think you think you never get a break from your work, how does this sound for a job description: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer. The genius of Leonardo Da Vinci, perhaps more than that of any other figure of his age, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance Man, a man of “unquenchable curiosity” and “feverishly inventive imagination”.He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. And now, much like one of his own incredible inventions, you can channel the spirit of this master Italian polymath on your wrist.

The International Watch Company, also known as IWC, is a high-end Swiss watch manufacturer located in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and is notable for being the only major Swiss watch factory located in eastern Switzerland, as the majority of the well-known Swiss watch manufacturers are located in western Switzerland. IWC’s The Da Vinci is an epitome of elegance in men’s watches, with silver dial and gold-toned hands, automatic movement, with a genuine alligator leather strap. President’s Day Blowout On Brand Name Watches

watchesHappy President’s Day from all of us here at The Watchery! Close as we are to the birthday of our very first President (unless you count John Hanson, who was the first congressional president under the Articles of Confederation) George Washington, there are all kinds of neat fun facts about our nation’s leaders to brighten up your day.

For instance, Abraham Lincoln was our only president to also be a licensed bartender, and Grover Cleveland was the only president in history to hold the job of a hangman. Gerald Ford, despite his balance issues, was the lucky first person to be both vice president and president without being elected. He was appointed vice president when Spiro Agnew resigned and he succeeded to the presidency when Nixon resigned. He was once the sheriff of Erie County, New York, and twice had to spring the trap at a hanging. In terms of presidential money, William McKinley, Grover Cleveland, and James Madison are on the $500, $1000, and $5000 bill, respectively. The bills still count as legal tender but are no longer being printed. And, in the completely non sequitur department, every member of Teddy Roosevelt’s family owned a pair of stilts, including the first lady.

Of course, what would really brighten your day is to get huge savings on one of many of our luxury watches, as much as 80% off great brand name watches like this elegant Invicta Women’s Angel watch. Come check out all the watches in our blowout sale online at TheWatchery.com!

Beauty And Precision With Panerai Watches

watchesContinuing on in our blog’s journey through famous brand name watches, the exquisite Panerai watch brand was founded in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai on the Ponte alle Grazie. By 1900, under the leadership of the founder’s grandson Guido Panerai (1873–1934), Officine Panerai had become an official supplier to the Regia Marina (the Royal Italian Navy).  Panerai watches of this time consisted of a cases designed and manufactured by Panerai and movement made by Swiss manufacturers including Rolex, combining Italian flare and Swiss precision in one machine. The Florence-based watchmaker also produced wrist worn diving instruments for the Italian Marina Militare.

In civilian life, Panerai attracted the attention of the actor Sylvester Stallone. He spotted and bought a Panerai Luminor in a store in Rome and later ordered a small batch of watches with his signature on the case back, called the batch Slytech, offering some as gifts. At auction and in the collectors market, some of the brand’s older models, particularly those produced in the 1940s and ’50s have sold for very high prices.

But its current selection of designer watches is available right here at TheWatchery.com for hugely discounted prices. For instance, this Men’s Luminor 1950 with 3 Days GMT with Automatic movement, elegant black dial face and brown alligator strap features a second time zone, power reserve indicator on the back, and seconds reset. It is a stunning piece available now for 25% online!

Maurice Lacroix Masterful Swiss Watches

men's watchesMaurice Lacroix may sound like a French watch brand, but it is actually among the top watch manufacturers in Switzerland – no mean feat considering that country’s high reputation for watchmaking.

The company can trace its roots back all the way to 1889 in the Desco von Schulthess (Desco) company, which had roots in the silk trade but begun an interest in luxury watches. In 1961 Desco acquired an assembly facility named Tiara, interestingly enough, and there it produced private label watches for third parties. In 1975, Desco started marketing watches under the brand name Maurice Lacroix. Like other Swiss watch brands, including Rolex and Omega,  Maurice Lacroix does not correspond to any one individual. But it sounds very distinct and sophisticated.

By 1980, Maurice Lacroix had become so successful that the facility in Saignelégier ceased production for third parties. During the 1990s, the brand experienced a tremendous growth phase with the launch of their high end ‘Les Mécaniques’ line, later renamed the Masterpiece’ collection.

Every Maurice Lacroix Men’s Masterpiece Watch with mechanical retrograde silver dial face and black genuine alligator leather strap is brand new, never worn, with original factory parts and 100% authentic guaranteed. We are also very proud to offer FREE shipping for certain models of Maurice Lacroix men’s and women’s watches. With great deals on this model, and many other top brands of luxury watches, there is no reason not to check out our entire catalog at TheWatchery.com today!

Luxury Watches Make A Timeless Gift

watchesIf you find yourself stressed about what to get your loved one for Valentine’s day, the first step is to blame Geoffrey Chaucer. The venerable English poet and courtier, when he was not making thinly veiled allegories for Lancastrian noblemen and/or poop jokes, wrote a great many romances, one among which was The Parliament Of Fowls. It contains the very first recorded reference to Valentine’s Day: “For this was on Saint Valentine’s Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate.”

It is very possible that Chaucer made this up completely, and very probably he was referring to early May, when birds are more likely to be mating. But still, the idea of St. Valentine’s feast day being related to the idea of signs or declarations of love has come down to us from the middle ages nonetheless.

While a copy of The CaterburyTales might go over well if you significant other is a medievalist, this Philip Stein Mother of Pearl Dial with pink lizard leather strap watch gotten at huge Valentine’s savings might do the trick. Along with the polished look you would expect of designer watches, the Philip Stein natural frequency technology has been infused with key frequencies in a proprietary process. When worn on the wrist, the watch exposes frequencies to the biofield and informs the body to relax and become more resistant to stress. Studies have shown wearers sleep better, are less stress, and focus better with Philip Stein watches. Amazing, right?

Get The Quality Of Cartier At A Quality Discount

watchesNothing says love quite like Cartier. This sophisticated Women’s Tank timepiece is known for its classy and sporty look. Its accentuated design has made it one of the best sellers year after year. That alone makes this watch, the crème of designer watches, a steal as a part of our Valentine’s Day sale here at The Watchery.

In 1904, the Brazilian pioneer aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to his friend Louis Cartier of the unreliability and impracticality of using pocket watches while flying. Cartier designed a flat wristwatch with a distinctive square bezel. This watch was appreciated not only Santos-Dumont but also many other customers. Thus the “Santos” was born. This was Cartier’s first men’s wristwatch.

In 1907, Cartier signed a contract with Edmond Jaeger, who agreed to exclusively supply the movements for Cartier watches. By this time, Cartier had branches in London, New York and St. Petersburg and was quickly becoming one of the most successful watch companies in the world. The Baignoire and Tortue models, both of which are still in production today, were introduced in 1912, followed by the introduction of the Tank model in 1917. This, designed by Louis Cartier, was inspired from the newly introduced tanks on the Western Front. This line, too, has survived, with over thirty varieties of watches made since.

Righteous Among The Watches

watchesEffortlessly matching any suit, this classy Bvlgari timepiece, with black dial and 18k solid gold case and brown leather straps, and its cool, bold design, will elegantly go with anyone’s style. Bvlgari has long been a name not only associated with luxury watches, but with luxury in general: jewelry, perfume, all the pleasure a sophisticated urbanite could desire can probably be found in Bvlgari’s prestigious location on 5th Avenue. Its roots are far more humble, however, and yet oddly heroic.

Sotirios Voulgaris, from whom the company gets its name and its distinctive ‘V,’ began his career as a jeweller in his home village Paramythia, where his first store can still be seen. In 1881 he finally moved to Rome, where in 1884 he founded his company and opened his second shop in via Sistina. The store was then replaced by the current flagship store in via dei Condotti, opened in 1905 by Bulgari with the help of his two sons, Costantino and Giorgio. The store quickly became a place where the world’s rich and famous came for the unique, high quality jewelry and watches combining Greek and Roman art.

During the Second World War, Costantino Bulgari and his wife, Laura Bulgari, hid three Jewish women in their own Roman home. They were strangers to them; the Bulgaris opened their doors out of outrage for the raid of the Roman ghetto in October 1943. For their generous action, on 31 December 2003, they were awarded the title of Righteous among the Nations at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.

Great Clearance Deals On Diver Watches

watchesHere is a special straight from the clearance section of The Watchery’s online catalog,  offering huge discounts on designer watches, which makes this Invicta Men’s Pro Diver Chronography with light green luminous dial and stainless steel strap a real steal. With a bold, masculine design, Invicta watches have a poised and calm ambiance that’s sure to have you looking twice.

The history of efforts to use watches underwater and to make watches that are water resistant, or waterproof and to make dive watches goes back to perhaps the 17th century. In the 19th century water and dust resistant watches were usually one-off pieces custom made for a particular customer and described as “Explorer’s Watches”. Early in the 20th century such watches were industrially produced for military and commercial distribution. Like their predecessors early 20th century dive watches were developed in response to meet the needs of several different but related groups: explorers, navies, and professional divers.

Of course, the Invicta Watch Group has a long tradition, too. It trades on the name “Invicta Watch Company” which was a company founded in 1837 by Raphael Picard in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The Picard family had owned and operated the company which produced Swiss mechanical timepieces offered at modest prices until the quartz movement revolution of the early 1970s.
