Swiss Heritage Watches

This gorgeous Men’s heritage IP Bezel watch with genuine black leather strap is both stunning and on sale right now online at TheWatchery.com. But, the heritage of Swiss watches themselves is equally impressive.

For a time, the Germans were on top.  The first timepieces to be worn were made in the 16th century in the German cities of Nuremberg and Augsburg. They were transitional in size between clocks and modern watches, fastened to clothing or worn on a chain around the neck. The shape later evolved into a rounded form; these were later called Nuremberg eggs.

But Swiss watchmakers would contribute to the worldwide spread of watches in short order. In Geneva, Georges-Auguste Leschot, a pioneer in the field of interchangeability in clock-making, invented various machine tools. In 1830 he designed an anchor escapement, which was later mass produced, and which spread the fame and craftsmanship of Swiss watches far and wide.

For over a quarter of a century now, the makers of Swiss Legend have created their own legendary reputation by bringing their loyal customers timepieces steeped in tradition, design and versatility. For the best brands in all our luxury watches, come check out our online catalog today!
